Thanks so much Hope, Bev and Seth for contacting me even though I didn't graduate with the class. I moved after my sophmore year to a small town in Michigan, due to my parents divorce. Mom and we children moved back to her hometown. Got some college credits in from Western Mich Univ as well as a community college after high school. Long story short...i got married, had 3 kids, then went back to school�and got a degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting. Did this for a while. Quit my job to care for my mom; she died of cancer. My dad also passed a few years ago of a heart attack. I now work as a pediatric receptionist at a small rural clinic which I love. Life is good! My husband Bob(self employed carpenter) and I have 3 grandchildren from our oldest of 3 dtrs. They live 5 minutes away :). Our middle dtr will graduate this Dec from USF in Tampa with a masters in counseling. Our youngest dtr will transfer to EMU this fall, majoring in music ed. Thank you so much for planning this reunion; I hope to attend!

From Ken:I've been married to my wife Joan for close to 27 years. We have one son, Jonathan, who has been our pride and joy! I've been very active with Jon in his extracurricular activities. We both fly gliders together (he soloed at 14) and he just recently became an Eagle Boy Scout. He is graduating high school shortly, so my "second time" through school is also ending. :-) His dream is to go into the Navy or Air Force and fly fighters.

I am an engineering project manager and have worked for the same company for 25 years. My passion became computers, so I am very much a technology geek. I am also a Ham Radio Operator (N3KF) which probably won't surprise some people.

Gesh, it is hard to believe how fast the time has gone!!! It's great reading all the updates and very sad seeing the In Memorium page. Hopefully I'll be able to make my first ever reunion.

From Chuck:My family still lives in Ambler, but I never looked back after leaving for VMI in the fall of '73. Spent seven plus years as an army officer after graduating from college and then got out. Went into the reserves, but switched to the Navy and finally retired from that a couple of years ago. On the civilian side I've been working as an analyst for the US Government in the DC area for the last 22 years, living in Manassas, VA.

Married for close to 30 years to my college sweetheart, Robin, who looks after her horse and our Welsh Corgi.

Our daughter Allyson graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU three years ago and is pursuing a career in LA, while our son Thomas is a journalism major at Maryland where he is the leading film critic for the school paper and writes a blog on Terrapin sports for the website FanU.

From David:Hello long lost classmates! This is kind of strange writing to folks I haven't seen in 35 years.
Yes, I live in Alaska and have lived here for most of the 35 years since graduation with some time in the "lower 48" attending college. Alaska always pulled us back. I am married to Kim (27 years) and we have two adult children. Zach is 26 and in banking. Rebecca is 23 and is in Veterinary medicine. Yes, they both played soccer from age four through High School and I was their coach the entire time!
It seems that I've changed careers every ten years but then there has been a natural progression. Currently I am the Administrator of the State's 168-bed long term care facility called the Anchorage Pioneer Home (see the web site). Previously I was on staff at the Alaska Psychiatric Institute for 10 years and in private practice. (Family Therapist). Before that I served as a Senior Pastor at three churches (after Seminary). I left UD to go in the Air Force after graduation and was a PA in emergency medicine and flew rescue. I was stationed here in Alaska which is how I came to Alaska in the first place. I fell in love with the skiing, mountains and abundant wildlife.
So it seems that I finally figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up! In 1981 I hired this really beautiful Christian woman who had no idea I had once been an awkward skinny kid. A few months later we married and life has been a very interesting and fun ride ever since.
The Alaska winters seem to be getting longer (or are we getting older?) so we also have a home in Arizona that we try to get to often during the coldest months.
My mother and sister still live in Upper Dublin and I try to come back once a year in the fall to visit them and also take in an Eagles game with my son. (he is the ultimate Eagles fan!)
I am hoping to schedule our yearly trek at the same time as the Reunion so as soon as you plan a date please let me know!
If any UDHS class of 73 are planning a vacation to Alaska, feel free to contact me and I'll show you around!
Over the past weeks I find myself returning to this site each day and reading all the entries as I try to place the faces. I've been touched by the lasting relationships that seem to be a common thread with UDHS graduates. Was it the water? It's also very sobering to read the names of our classmates who have passed away. I wish we had more information about their lives.
WOW! I just saw on the news that my boss is now the Republican Vice Presidential candidate.
I changed the "now" picture to one taken last week while golfing. Only in Alaska do the foxes and bears come out of the woods to join your golf game.

Things here in my life are wonderful. Sue and I have been married almost 27 years and have 3 great daughters. We enjoy living near Doylestown.

For the past 26 years I have been a Independent Manufacturer's Sales Rep in the apparel business. I currently rep Cutter and Buck the world's #1 selling Golf Apparel line.

From Wendy:Following graduation, I went to Millersville where I got a degree in a really useful subject - ancient Greek! Seriously! After college, and after bouncing around in the business world for a few years, I got a paralegal certificate in 1981, thinking "Let's see if I like the legal field."

Twenty years and many thousands of work hours later, I realized I needed a break. I have indulged myself these last few years, enjoying life and returning to school to obtain a degree in Accounting. Unfortunately, the break is over and it's back to the grind for me! I am currently tutoring Accounting at a local community college and working parttime for an accountant doing (what else) taxes.

I was blessed with finding a wonderful man named Rich whom I married in 1995. We keep busy with church, camping, and traveling to places like Ireland, Italy and Mexico, as well as visiting family members strewn across the USA. Took me a while to find a recent picture that won't scare anyone. The years seem to cause a bit of a ......spread, if you know what I mean. That's me on the far right with my nephew and my sister Mary, Class of '71.

I am enjoying reading everyone's stories of what they have been doing these last 35 (yikes!) years!

As a youngster, I graduated from PSU :) with a nursing degree and worked in various settings: hospitals, family planning clinics, home/hospice care and a wagon train for troubled teens in the Southwest. Then, I did some backpacking in Yosemite, Oregon and the Pacific Northwest .The San Juan islands were ahhh...what a lovely place in the 70's.
I love adventure, but I also missed the beautiful Pennsylvania woodlands of my childhood. So here I met Peter in 1980 and have called Bucks County home since then. Together, we explored Florida north to Maine and Prince Edward Island over the years. Somewhere in there, he proposed we build our own house?? What ...the whole thing??? Five handsome kids later (4boys,1girl 14,18,20,22,24), with our minds still intact, it should be finished by spring. Music, gardening, writing, reading and travel still favorite pastimes.
Hope to try house swapping in Cornwall or Ireland when kids are grown.... maybe Italy! Looking foreward to those golden years. Happy Holidays to each and everyone one of you and see you soon!

Well, Chuck and I were married in 1979. We have 2 amazing sons, 15 and 18. The oldest will hopefully graduate in June from Wissahickon HS... what a trip!!
I spent 18 years driving a school bus in order to have the same time off as the kids, as well as some pretty great benefits. Stopped doing that after being stricken by a couple of brain anuerysms one day in 2004. Funny how they didn't want me driving after brain surgery. Chuck just happened to be home that day, which saved my life. Everything is more or less back to normal now.
Anyway, we are still in the area, Lower Gwynedd, Chuck is the Fire Marshal for Springfield Township (Montgomery Co.) and our boys have followed him into the fire service ,but in Ambler rather than Ft. Washington.
I look forward to seeing you all at the reunion.

From Susan:I work part time as a Senior Consultant for an HR Consulting firm. I also referee NCAA Womens Division I Lacrosse and Division II and III Field Hockey in addition to high school. Last summer I umpired the Prague Lacrosse Cup and recently officiated the WDIA's in Denver and the NCAA playoffs. Many a UD alumni has hollered at me from the stands!

I was widowed over 10 years ago and I have been fortunate to meet another widower - Mike - a retired Army Colonel. We have 6 children between us and my three are Jessica who is pictured with me (24) and a Surety Bond Underwritier with Liberrty Mutual, JJ (23) who is graduating from Drexel (BSME) in June and will be working at Deloitte & Touche and my youngest is Steve, a junior at LaSalle HS. We live on a golf course in Ambler - unfortunately it has not improved my putting at all!

I moved to UD in 1970, so I missed the early years with all of you. It's been interesting to read your updates. What a great class! Thanks to Seth, Bev and Hope for a job well done!

I work for the Bucks County division of a national educational services company. I am responsible for the remedial reading and math programs in the county’s non-public schools, as well as the supervision and professional development of its teachers.

In September 1998, I met the love of my life, my soul mate and very best friend, John. We married 6 months later and lived an exciting and very happy life with our daughters, Jennifer (his – now 32) and Marija (mine – 26). Jennifer is a graphic designer; Marija is a singer and works at a live music theatre. Our family has grown to include Jennifer’s husband, Kevin, also a graphic artist, and their son Cole, 2. They are expecting again in May.

We've done quite a bit of traveling, and visit Hilton Head and Maui annually. There’s nothing better than ringing in the New Year in Hawaii!!!

In November 2003, John was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. No symptoms and a virtually non-existent PSA. In September 2007, on the 9^th anniversary of our first date, John lost his very courageous and hard-fought battle. My grief is overwhelming at times, but I've made a commitment to prostate cancer advocacy in John’s memory. I sponsored the first annual “Blue for Breu” fundraiser to increase awareness of this #2 cancer killer of men. I am a founding member of ZERO, a national advocacy group, and had the privilege of meeting with the PA representatives on Capitol Hill last year to discuss increased funding for research.

I work for a company that manages and operates wound care centers throughout the United States. Both of my daughters, Carly and Jenna, are nurses in Philadelphia. My job has me on the road a lot, but the good part of that is I get to touch base with old friends from time to time. From Julia:Okay, so 7 days after graduation my family moved to Boca Raton FL. Where I lived happily for 26 years. Then I decided to marry this guy I had met back in 1977. We had both married and had kids and gotten divorced when a call was made and we were back in touch. So after dating for 5 years we got married and my daughter and I moved to Manassas VA. My daughter is now a Junior at Virginia Tech. Yes, she was there that day & way too close to the shooting and yes I was a basket case. She is an accounting major with a double minor in Art History and Global Business. (huh?) She did a semester abroad this past summer and David and I went over to France for a week to see her. It was our first vacation since I opened my store 4 years ago. I own a franchise in Bristow VA. The youngest of my step-daughters is getting married next Spring and we all like him. The older 2 step-daughters are busy with their careers. The family is rounded out with 3 dogs a male lab, a male bassett (yes David is trying to improve the male/female ratio) and a female beagle. The whole entourage lives on 3.5 acres.

After my children were all in elementary school, I returned to the classroom and now teach 7th graders in Souderton Area School District. In some ways, it feels like I'm still reliving my days at Sandy Run Jr. High and all the fun we used to have at dances, playing sports, and playing pranks on teachers.
I am currently living in Telford with my husband, Dave (married 30 years) and my three children, Katie (25), Michael(23), and Tim(20).

From Steve:Maureen & I will celebrate our 30th anniversary in August 2008. We have two children, Mike (27) and Mallory (24), and a son-in-law, Ben. We transitioned from the Marine Corps to civilian life in 2007. We now live in SW Washington State about an hour north of Portland, OR.

I'm currently working with at-risk youth in a local juvenile detention facility. My Original Oreland Hard Guy status immediately elevated me to a juvenile delinquency subject matter expert in the estimation of my employers--go figure.

I'm heartened to see Mark has finally gotten in touch with his sensitive side. (Please note Zingle's genuine and sincere comments on this website.) Also, major props to Stu on two firsts, a national age group record, and a second at the recent National Masters Short Course Swimming Meet at UT. (In part, this was a gentle reminder by Stu that all roads still lead to Oreland.)

Kudos to Bev, Hope, & Seth for taking on the challenge of organizing this reunion. It'll be great to see everyone there. Go Terps, Semper Fi, & God Bless.

I married Randy Perkins (class of 1972) 5 days after the H.S. graduation. We moved to Idaho; then lived in California; then on to Texas. Randy and I will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary next year too. We have been so blessed with 3 "children"--Rachel (37); Craig (35) & Theresa (33). We have two children...Lindsay, 23, graduated from Univ. of Delaware and now living in Florida and Kevin Jr. who is a sophmore in college...double majoring in guitar performance and music education..we haven't a clue where those abilities came from. Kevin and I work together in a family business in Ivyland PA (plastic fabrication...started by Kevin's dad over 35 years ago)...never thought we could work together but it's working out great...car pool so we don't have to pay more for gas...he gets up earlier than I'd like. We now live in the house that Kevin grew up in....strange for him in the beginning...I adapt easily. I'm so excited that Bev, Hope and Seth have put this all together....Kathy and I were a bit burnt out. Hopefully we'll be able to reconnect with most of you in the fall.

Commissioned in Navy, then qualified as a Naval Flight Officer in Patrol Squadron Sixteen based in Jacksonville. Deployed to Sicily, Bermuda, Azores, and Rota, Spain.

Got an engineering job modifying patrol planes in Jacksonville from 83-89. Married Jackie Bassett. daughter Elizabeth born in Jacksonville.

Transferred to Naval Air Development Center, Warminster from 1989 to 1993. Coincidentally, worked with John Felix's (UD '74) dad modifying aircraft for tests. Lived in Warrington, where son Jack was born.

Transferred again in 1993 to Naval Air Warfare Center, Patuxent River to my current position working in test safety. Jackie works as a comptroller for several local small companies. Beth is working in Hunt Valley MD, and Jack is a freshman at Simon's Rock College.

From Peter:Looking forward to the reunion! I went to Va. Tech for 2 years, then San Jose State for a year while serving as a youth pastor in Saratoga, CA, then back to Va. Tech. for my final year. BA Phil (double major: BS Sociology). I went to Princeton Seminary, taking an intern year between my second and final year in Wheeling, WV, where I met and married my wife, Elizabeth. We have lived in northern NJ, Wheeling, WV (where our two kids were born), and currently Franklin, IN. I plan to retire in 2 years to a home we purchased in Wheeling, overlooking Oglebay Resort. (But the saying is old ministers do not retire--they just go out to pastor.) My family moved from Ft. Washington to southern CA while I was a college senior. My sister, Pam Barnes, still lives in the area (Maple Glen), but other than that, the rest of the Jessen clan has dispersed.

From Judylee:Graduated IUP in 1977 with a degree in Health and Physical Ed. Taught at UDHS for 2 years for sabatical leaves. That was weird! Have worked for companys like Hallmark and Beechnut Baby Foods in between having children but the one constant in my life is 35 years of coaching swimming. I retired winter coaching to travel more to our youngest daughters competitions.
I have been living in Horsham with my husband of 28 years, Dennis. We met as oppossing track coaches for Upper Dublin and William Tennent. We have 2 beautiful daughters. Melissa, 26 who graduated from Rider University and is a 3rd grade teacher for the Hatboro Horsham school district. She too is a swim coach for the high school and aquatic clubs. She was an accomplished swimmer and she and I had the opportunity to travel to Sydney Australia in 2000 where she competed in an international meet. What a great experience to share together!
Our youngest daughter Kelsey just graduated from The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with a Graphic Design degree. She is currently training for her Olympic Trial debut in Omaha Nebraska in July. She too, had a stellar swimming career. She swam for Hatboro Horsham and held the state record in the 50 free her sophmore and senior years. Most all of our travels are thanks to her achievements in the pool.
I am always in touch with Bev (Klos) Perry '72 and Barbara(swalm) Rose '72 and recently with Stu Marvin. We recently attended the final swim at the high school pool scheduled to be torn down next month. What memories. I have so enjoyed reading about you all. What an awesome response. Shout out to Wendy Glessner and Chuck Baily!

I served 24 yrs in the military. I was the Facility Manager for the 111th ANG at Willow Grove Joint Reserve Facility in PA. In 2000 I had a reaction to the anthrax vaccine which forced my medical retirement.

From Cindy:During the past 36 years, these two cherubs are the best part. Jason(29, Penn State-EE and married- photo is his wedding day!) and Jackie(26 - Drexel -Graphic design). I graduated from Drexel in 1977 and married that fall to my kids dad. We were married 17 years then divorced. During our marriage we moved from Solebury,PA to California and it was awesome then back to New Hope. I remarried in 1996 to present hubby, Rich. He and I moved to Florida in 2004 and then bought a second place in North Wales,PA so I could be a pest to my kids! So now besides my hairstyling biz I recently started a pet sitting service. Life is full of commuting to Florida, hanging with kids and working! Oh, besides my biological kids , I am lucky enough to have 6 step kids and 6 step grand kids. Life is full of surprises. We are taking our extending family to Mexico on a cruise at the time of the reunion, so I hope lots of pics are taken. Can't wait to see them!

I have pastored churches in Maryland and northwestern Pennsylvania, which is where I now live. Even though I visited this site several times I have not been inspired, until tonight, to share some thoughts and convey some feelings. Some of your comments were very moving.

Man... with a snap of the proverbial fingers, here we are in the now, looking back. According to the big biological time clock that my family follows, the wild ride is about half over for me and I don't know about y'all but some days it seems like the ride is just getting started. We perennial late bloomers are always playing catch up.

The "now" picture was taken on the set of a Kevin James film, a comedy, entitled "Mall Cop." It shot near Boston last April and I had the opportunity to work on the project for a couple of weeks.

When Bev, Hope and Seth first contacted me several months ago, wanting to kick some ideas around for our reunion, that is all we did, but to their good credit, their sticktoitness has obviously paid off. The site is up and running, classmates are responding, communicating, a real date is being considered and a venue chosen. This involved no doubt, countless phone calls, bleary eyed on-line searches for MIA's, late night conference calls, planning meetings, all the details and as David Frain pointed out in his comments, I'm sure there were the particularly unpleasant moments when they learned about our classmates who have passed on. Plainly, it's a lot of damn work. Thank you guys for taking it on!

Reading through the comments, I was struck by how many of us shared about the longevity of our marriages. I hit my 30th wedding anniversary last July to Priscilla. These days it's unusual to hear, about so many successful relationships and yet, not so surprising when you start to get in touch with who we all mostly were as young people. My experience of "us" I describe as; good, strong, proud, capable, committed, passionate and loving. While reading through the comments, I began to wipe away the cobwebs, realizing that these amazing collective qualities made a profound difference in my life. In the hallways, on the field with my teammates, band members, student council, the plays, even the science projects, the bus rides and most of all the music, the music and the dances.... and let me not forget ... the girls.

Although I have lived away from the Upper Dublin area and out of state really since August of '73, (and lived several lives since then... I'm up to 6 1/2 actually) and even though I don't know many of you, nor kept in close touch with the ones I do know, I am looking forward to being with you all at this party and urge the "undecided" to swing out and come.

Did I just quote a show tune? Oh my God! Please don't tell my kids...

Prior Info before MOVE: Been living in South Florida since 1978 after getting out of Bloomsburg on the 5-year plan. Married the Great Meg Keller in 1996 in Verona, Italy in a ceremony all in Italian by our good friend, Mayor Camillo Cametti. We have two boys: Kel (10) and Matthew (8) and they are the greatest thing to ever happen to us. Retired from the City of Fort Lauderdale in 2004 after spending way more time than I wanted managing the Aquatic Complex at the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Have a small painting business now and work part-time to spend more time with the family. Most days are spent picking the boys up at school, doing homework and coaching swimming, youth baseball, soccer and basketball. Had a great couple of days with Janet Hyland Gift, Kevin Gift, Kathy Bail Hill and Mark Zingle at Colonel Steve Hogg’s “I’m Leaving the Marine Corps Bash” in South Carolina last spring. Dropped in on Patty Hart in Jacksonville along the way. Of course the required phone calls were made to Lance Koury and Jack Nickolaus while sitting in Hogg’s living room. What a group! Currently working on starting a new career that may have us moving back to PA this summer. The picture was an attempt to give the troops a taste of life in the frozen north in case we do move out of Florida. People down here break out the down jackets and scarfs if the mercury drops into 50’s, so we needed a family lesson on what cold really was. Looking forward to rehashing the old days, telling stories that make us seem better than we were, and I will miss those who are no longer with us.
